Nowadays there has been a lot of discussion going on about todays education.  These talks can take place in classrooms, libraries, homes, cafes etc. and they center around the theme, “Has knowledge been easier to access in the era of internet and social networks.”  Schools and universities are adapting their environments to this new way of thinking and Bangkok University Student Lounge (BU Lounge aka Imagine Lounge) is among the first to take the plunge.

The new lounge is located underneath the multi-story lecture rooms and auditoriums in the brand new University compound.  The new lounge is intended to give students a place to spend time in for activities and projects.  A large portion of the lower floor of the lounge is called “ The Reading Cave.” Thousands of QSB ribs form porous rooms for different forms of use including individual reading rooms to rooms that can accommodate large groups for tutoring or discussions groups.

The upper level space is for more dynamic activities.  There are two huts on this floor, the polka dot pink one that protrudes from the edge of the deck which can be used as a karaoke house and the wooden hut that is the music rehearsal room.  This second room can also be used for students to organize small events.

Students on both floors are connected by a network of holes.  There is a hole with glass for visual connection, one that can be opened for drinks and beverage ordering, one with a fireman pole in the center for circulation and one with periscope goggles for observation.  The two decks are also connected by two staircases for easy access by students.
